Brigador devs talking about localization
I was doing some writing in localization this week (in Portuguese, so it's not in this blog) and remembered the article the Brigador devs wrote about their own struggle with localizing the game. You read about hit here. It gets very technical, and it's very informative for people who have no idea of what's behind the translation of a video game save for the "turning this language into that language".
I don't have much to add, they made a good job documenting their struggles, and it's pretty cool they made it publicly available. It's one of the reasons I always say that, to localize a game, you have to think about the localization process since the beginning, otherwise there will be a lot of refactoring old code to fit foreign linguistics needs.
Brigador is a cool game and everyone should play it. It reminds me of MechComander, but on steroids, and with naming conventions based on Portuguese (which got me by surprise, as the devs aren't native speakers afaik). Go check it out.
